Crowns
What are Crowns?
Patients require a crown when their tooth is badly decayed, broken or cracked. Sometimes, if the damage isn’t too bad, the tooth can be saved with a filling, but in cases of advanced decay or trauma, our team will recommend a crown installation to restore your smile.
Crowns are typically made of gold, strong ceramic, or porcelain, which can be fused to a gold substrate material to provide added strength and beauty. During your consultation, Dr. Laventure or Dr. Schuyler will create a mold of your tooth, so that a custom crown can be specially fabricated for you. When you come in for your installation appointment, your dentist will prepare your tooth by gently removing the surface structure, and then cement the crown to the prepared tooth. To achieve the best results, our team will provide education and resources for properly caring for your crown.
